Los Angeles is the City of Angels, home of all the glamour and glitz of Hollywood.  Now, the Ritz-Carlton is leading the way in a Los Angeles revival, restoring sophistication to the culture of downtown.

The Ritz L.A. opened in April, with 123 guestrooms, 14 suites and the WP24, the latest restaurant from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck.  Its central location is just steps away from the brand new Grammy Museum, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and all the downtown clubs.

The Ritz-Carlton shares its space with the JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles, resting on the upper floors of a statuesque 54-story glass tower in the Los Angeles skyline.  However, while it shares the building, it has its own spa, bar, restaurant and Ritz-Carlton club floor.

The dramatic views are some of the best in the city, especially from the private rooftop pool and bar on the 26th floor.  The city skyline looks so lovely from this outdoor space, it even impresses Angelenos.  While taking in the scenery, guests can lounge in a cabana, soak in the Jacuzzi, or hang out at the bar.

In keeping with California’s cult of relaxation, the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles is also home to downtown L.A.’s only full service spa.  It features an aromatherapy steam room and relaxation lounges, and every treatment table is equipped with an iPod docking station, so guests can program their own soothing music.

The hotel opened in February 2010, with each room luxuriously appointed with feather beds, 400-thread count linens, HD flat screen televisions in the bedrooms, and a separate television in the bathroom, for those extra long soaks in the deep bathtub.

The cost starts at $300 USD per night for a standard guestroom, and climbs to more than $2,000 USD per night for the Executive Suite with Club Lounge access.

When it comes to dining, the Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles has several choices, aside from the latest interpretation of Chinese cuisine from Wolfgang Puck.  Chef Kerry Simon serves modern American cuisine at LA Market, where all the fresh ingredients are grown locally.  There’s also a café, ILLY Esspressamente, a wine bar, gLance, and, of course Ion, that rooftop pool bar with the killer view of all the stars, both at night, and during the day.
