The Breakers in Palm Beach is a legendary resort in the Florida sunshine. For more than a century, it has been a landmark, setting the standard for luxury hotels along the Florida coastline.
In 1896, railroad magnate Henry Flagler built this Renaissance-style hotel right on the water; a European palace to welcome the Rockefellers, Astors and Vanderbilts who were frequent guests. Over the past decade, The Breakers has spent more than $250-million to upgrade and improve its grand facilities.
The façade is pure Old World, modelled after the Villa Medici in Rome. The lobby is equally classic and grand, with hand-painted ceilings, medieval Flemish tapestries and Venetian chandeliers.
The Breakers’ 540 guest rooms and suites make this Palm Beach’s largest hotel, but the vastness of the estate never feels crowded. The rooms are pure luxury, with marble tiling, rich fabrics and gilt touches giving every room a royal feel, with a modern twist. The decor is inspired by the tropical oceanfront, with muted shades of sand, water and sky enhancing the relaxing air of each room.
Rooms range from $370 USD per night for a superior room with a view of the resort, to $1,900 USD per night for a newly renovated oceanfront suite with separate living room .
The historic property is expansive, sitting on 140 acres of oceanfront property, with more than 1,800 staff to attend to guests needs.
There are five oceanfront swimming pools, four whirlpool spas and a half-mile of newly redeveloped private beach front with private cabanas. There are two 18-hole championship golf courses exclusive to hotel guests, and 10 lit Har-Tru tennis courts, which won The Breakers a spot on the list of top 50 tennis resorts by Tennis Magazine
The Breakers is also home to Palm Beach’s finest spa, ranked one of the top 25 spas in the United States, featuring 20,000 square feet of open space to relax and rejuvenate.
The resort also offers other activities well suited to a beach vacation, including sunset bicycle tours, beach side yoga, catamaran excursions, and snorkeling trips to the Breaker’s private reef.
